JOB SUMMARY 

General Description 

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will work as part of a team to provide physical therapy service under the direction and supervision of the physical therapist. The PTA will implement selected components of patient/client interventions (treatment), obtain data related to the interventions provided, and make modifications in selected interventions either to progress the patient/client as directed by the physical therapist or to ensure patient/client safety and comfort. 

Responsibility 

PTA’s assist the physical therapist in the treatment of individuals of all ages, from newborns to the very oldest, who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. Patient care is provided as inpatient, outpatient, and home health settings. 

Accountability 
The Physical Therapy Assistant reports directly to the Director of Rehabilitation. 

Special Demands 

Mental: Astute communication skills with employees, physicians, visitors, administration, and public. Ability to adjust to job situations that involve many different people and projects, requiring some independent action and judgment. 
Physical: Must have the ability and competency to operate the equipment of his/her position; perform technical procedures; speak intelligently and in a professional manner before others, and exercise supervision and management skills. 

Qualifications 
Education: Must be a graduate of and have a certificate from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program. Must be recognized by the Colorado State Board of Physical Therapy. Must have verification card of current instruction in CPR. 

Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience preferred. Bi-lingual capabilities helpful. 

Working Environment 
Work in clean, well-lighted, heated and air conditioned area. Exposure to unpleasant sights, smells and infectious diseases possible. 

Salary Range 
Commensurate with experience and qualifications
